What you need

Wremote has two parts. The watch app is the trackpad. A free helper on your Mac or PC moves the pointer. They talk directly over Bluetooth.

Set up on a Mac

Coming soon

The Mac helper isn’t ready to download yet. It will be signed and notarised before launch.

  1. Download Wremote for Mac, move it to your Applications folder and open it.
  2. A watch icon appears in the menu bar. Allow Bluetooth when macOS asks.
  3. Allow Accessibility, which is what lets an app move the pointer. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Accessibility, and turn on Wremote. The menu shows an orange note until this is on.
  4. Open Wremote on your watch and allow Bluetooth when it asks.
  5. Tap Start free trial (or Restore purchase if you already bought Wremote Pro). The watch only looks for your Mac once the trial or Wremote Pro is active.
  6. Your Mac shows a window with a 6‑digit code, and so does your watch. If the codes match, click Allow on the Mac. From then on, the watch connects by itself.
  7. To start Wremote when you log in, turn on Open at login in its menu.

Set up on Windows

Test version

Wremote for Windows is new and still being tested. To try it, email support@wremote.app.

What the PC needs: Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11, and Bluetooth that supports the peripheral role, which is how the watch connects. Many built-in adapters do. If Wremote says the PC’s Bluetooth can’t accept a watch, a USB Bluetooth 5 adapter usually fixes it.

  1. Unzip the download and move the Wremote folder somewhere permanent, such as Documents.
  2. Open Wremote.exe. The test version isn’t signed, so Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. A watch icon appears in the notification area next to the clock. On Windows 11 it may be hidden under the ^ arrow; drag it onto the taskbar to keep it in view. Check Bluetooth is on.
  4. Open Wremote on your watch and allow Bluetooth when it asks.
  5. Tap Start free trial (or Restore purchase if you already bought Wremote Pro). The watch only looks for your PC once the trial or Wremote Pro is active.
  6. The PC shows a window with a 6‑digit code. If the watch shows the same code, click Allow.
  7. To start Wremote with Windows, click the icon and turn on Open at sign-in.

Is it connected?

The dot in the middle of the gear shows the link. It’s green when the signal is strong and shades through yellow and orange to red as it weakens. It flashes red while the link reconnects, for example after a drop or when you reopen the app. On a Mac, the menu bar icon shows radio waves while a watch is connected.

Paused

When you lower your wrist, nothing is sent until you raise it again. On watches with an Always On display, the watch shows Paused.

Keep the app open longer

By default the watch goes back to the clock about two minutes after you lower your wrist, which closes the connection. To keep Wremote open longer, on the watch open Settings, then General, then Return to Clock, then Wremote, and choose After 1 hour.

Troubleshooting

“Looking for your Mac” doesn’t go away

Check the helper is running on your Mac or PC (the watch icon in the menu bar, or in the notification area on Windows) and that Bluetooth is on for both. Quit and reopen the helper so the watch can find it again.

The watch says “Not allowed”

Someone clicked Don’t allow on the computer, or the request timed out after 90 seconds. Tap Try again on the watch.

Start pairing over

On the watch, tap the gear, then Reset pairing. On a Mac, click Forget next to the watch in the Wremote menu. On Windows, click the Wremote icon, point to the watch’s name and choose Forget.

The pointer doesn’t move on a Mac

Wremote needs Accessibility permission to move the pointer. Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Accessibility, and check Wremote is on. If it is already on, macOS sometimes drops the permission after an app is updated: turn Wremote off and on again.

Some apps on Windows ignore the watch

Apps running as administrator, such as Task Manager and installers, only take input from apps that also run as administrator. To control them, run Wremote as administrator.

Scrolling goes the wrong way, or is too fast or too slow

On the watch, tap the gear and change Reverse scrolling or Scroll speed.

The connection drops when I lower my wrist

The watch has gone back to the clock, which closes the app. See keep the app open longer.

Windows says the PC’s Bluetooth can’t accept a watch

Some Bluetooth adapters can’t take the peripheral role, which the watch needs to connect. A USB Bluetooth 5 adapter usually fixes it.

Something else is wrong on Windows

Click the Wremote icon, then Show log, and email that file to support@wremote.app. It records the Bluetooth and pairing steps, never keys or input. It includes the names of watches that connect, your Bluetooth adapter’s ID, the versions of Wremote and Windows, and any error messages. You can open it and read it before you send it. It’s kept in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wremote and stays on your PC unless you send it.

Questions

Do I need an iPhone app?

No. Wremote runs on your watch and talks straight to your Mac or PC over Bluetooth. Nothing runs on your iPhone, and you don’t need Wi‑Fi or a Wremote account.

Does it work with an iPad?

No. Wremote controls a Mac or a Windows PC. It doesn’t control an iPad or an iPhone.

Which watches work?

Any Apple Watch that runs watchOS 10 or later. The double-tap pinch to click needs Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, with watchOS 11 or later. Every other gesture works on all of them.

Can more than one watch control my computer?

Yes. Each watch pairs once with its own code. The Wremote menu on your Mac or PC lists every paired watch, and you can forget any of them there.

Is it a subscription?

No. Wremote is free for 7 days, then a one-time unlock, Wremote Pro, for US$4.99 (A$7.99 in Australia). The App Store shows the price for your country. The Mac and Windows helpers are free.

Does reinstalling restart the free trial?

No. The trial’s start date comes from the App Store, so it carries over if you delete and reinstall the app.

I bought Wremote Pro. How do I get it back?

It usually comes back by itself on a watch that uses the same Apple Account. If it doesn’t, open Wremote on your watch and tap Restore purchase on the unlock screen.

Can I share Wremote Pro with Family Sharing?

No. Family Sharing isn’t available for Wremote Pro.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds for App Store purchases are made by Apple, so that is the quickest way. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose Wremote Pro. If Wremote isn’t working for you, email us too. Nothing here affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Is it secure?

Pairing works like Bluetooth numeric comparison: both screens show the same code, and you click Allow on the computer. Only a watch you allowed can control it. Every input packet is signed and numbered, so altered or replayed packets are dropped. Each device’s private pairing key stays on it and never leaves it.

Does Wremote collect my data?

No. There are no analytics, ads, accounts or tracking, and the apps make no network requests of their own. Read the privacy policy.

Still stuck?

Email support@wremote.app. On Windows, attaching the log from Show log helps us find the problem quickly.
